Get The Look! For Less: Alesandra Ambriso's June 2012 Street Style- All Items Under $40.00!

It's the weekend, and sometimes we much rather stay in sweats and a tee-shirt then put together a cute outfit.   Well, luckily, there are always compromises that can be made, like, for example, this casual laid back, sweat pant-free look worn by Alesandra Ambriso.   To re-create her weekend outfit put on these $29.80 destroyed denim boyfriend capris from Forever21.   Pair your jeans with a comfy tee shirt like Hollister's $8.95 "White Point" striped teeshirt.   Slip on a soft, loose fitting white cardigan, unbuttoned (or without buttons).    Wrap a thin, summery scarf around your neck.  This $12.00 grey pleated metallic scarf is very versatile and looks good with anything.   Add a little pop of bright color with these blue "Rossi" sandals for $39.00.   Slip on some black "modern" wayfarer sunnies for only $12.00 and you are ready for the weekend!

Get The Look!: Alexa Chung at the Chanel Haute-Couture Show

On July 2 Alexa Chung was one of the many who attended the Chanel Haute Couture Show as part of Paris Fall/Winter fashion week.   She went dressed in her typical "girl meets boy" look is created by pairing a chunky sweater with a tweed skirt with feminine heels and a bag.

To rock Alexa's look you need a navy blue chunky sweater.   Make sure to find a thin sweater, bring it is still summer.   To make the sweater a little bit more appropriate for summer push the sleeves up near your elbows.   Next, a frayed tweed skirt in blueish or blackish tones.   Grab a black quilted cross body bag and sling it over your shoulder.   For a vintage look, slip on an brown oxford pump.  If you prefer a girlie look, grab your basic patent leather nude pump.  To complete the look see the hair and makeup section below.

Hair:   If you want your look complete by having hair just like Alexa's try these beachy waves.  You may desire for your hair to have a short messy look like it does on Alexa's in the picture above.  To do this first create beachy waves (for extra texture feel free to add texturizing cream or spray) .   Second, collect your hair a few inches (about 2) below the nape of the neck.  Then, twist the hair below the few inches that you are holding and pull it up onto the back of your head.   Clip it with a hair claw clip or pin it into place with bobby pins.   Remember, the look is supposed to be messy, so don't worry if something does not look "perfect".Makeup:   Alexa is not wearing very dark colors in her makeup for this look.  She is wearing very light pinks and nudes for a fresh- faced look.   For the eyes, a "natural smokey eye" compliments the look very well (a natural smokey eye is a smokey eye with lighter colors, see the picture in collage above).   When doing the smokey eye try using a gel eyeliner like Bobbi Brown's Long- Wear Gel Eyeliner.   The perfect lipstick color is a light pinky- orange (I think the shade Barbarella by NARS is spot on the right color).   Apply a quick sweep of MAC 'Mineralize' blush to your cheeks.   Now your Alexa Chung at The Chanel Haute Couture look is complete!

How To Rock the Trend: Neon Handbags

This summer (and earlier in the spring), neon colors have been one of the big fashion trends.  But, the problem is "How should they be worn?"  Well, I'm here to put those questions to rest so we can enjoy this very unique style before fall roles around.   What you MUST know about wearing a neon accessory is that it needs to be paired with either black, white, cream, or nude.  This is mainly because you want that accessory (or in this case your bag) to be the primary focus of the outfit.  If you wear too many colors, someone looking at you won't know where to rest their eyes; in simpler terms, there will be WAY too much going on.  Also, another great thing about wearing an outfit like the one above is that the look is effortless; all you need are basic pieces like a tee, jeans, and a blazer. But, like I said before, the colors of those items are the key.  Read on to find out exactly how to put an outfit together like the one above.
P.S.- Both of the outfits below are based upon the two different outfit images in the collage above.   Below, I say "shown above" and "not shown above".  When I say "shown above" I am NOT referring to the images (because then both would be "shown above").   I mean that the clothing articles put together as an outfit above is what it is based upon.

Girly Chic (with a white blazer, shown above):  To start this outfit, I have chosen a pair of black, high rise skinny jeans.  These jeans are a simple and basic piece that is very helpful to have around.  Then, (though it is not shown in the outfit above) put on a white tee shirt or button down.  If you decide to go with the button down, try to find one that is lightly textured (slightly wrinkly) and very thin (almost transparent), this creates a soft and flowy summer look.   If you decide on a tee, just try it on with the rest of the outfit and see what you think because so many different ones can go well with this outfit as long as they are white.   Next, throw on a cream colored blazer (I LOVE the one in the link).  After this, put on some black heels (or, if you prefer, flats).  Make sure the heels (or flats) have a sheen and glossy surface (like these patent leather pumps).  The reason we are using dark colored heels is because the jeans are dark and the upper half is all white, so by adding the dark heels to the bottom we are evening out the two sides so that attention is not drawn to the fact that you are wearing colored shoes instead of the bag.   To put this look together I selected a beautiful, neutral, light pink and gold ring.  This ring can go with almost everything, so it is defiantly worth having around.  By putting on this ring, it gives the outfit a little more color without taking attention away from the bag.  Now, if you have to put your statement piece bag down you are not as "naked" in just black and white.  Last but most definitely not least, grab your bag and you are ready to rock it!

Rad Rocker (with a black blazer, not shown above):   I'm not going to go into as much explanation or description with this one, but feel free to post a question as a comment and I will be sure to give you a detailed answer right away.   Start with a pair of blue skinny jeans.  The shade of the jean is up to you, but I suggest that it is not too light.  Whether it is bright-ish blue (like the one in the picture in the upper left hand corner above) or an almost black dark blue, as long as you think it looks good with everything else.   Then throw on a black tee and blazer (I like the "boyfriend" style blazer for this look).   Slip on some black bootie- heels (booties with heels) and toss on your neon bag and- vuala!  Your outfit is complete :).

Don't have a neon bag yet?  Here are some cute ones that will look great used in the outfits above:

This cute, quick, and easy summer hairstyle can be created in only a few minutes and put with a fancy dress or your every day jeans and tee shirt.

    Directions:

    1. Part hair on one side.
    2. Backcomb through roots around the head.
    3. Bring hair to the back.
    4. Pick a section of hair from both sides (left and right) as well as the middle.
    5. French braid adding in small sections along the hair line.
    6. After you finish french braiding (once you reach the top of your neck) braid the rest of your hair regularly.
    7. Seal the braid off with a small band.
    8. Stick your fingers under the middle of the braid (right above the beginning of the neck), you will feel a "pocket".  Pull it apart to make it a little bigger.
    9. Roll the end of your braid down a couple of inches at a time.

    11. Secure with bobby pins where it is needed (if you have bangs pin those back too).

Get The Look!: Emma Watson at the Coachella Pool Party

At Mulberry's Coachella Pool Party Emma Watson arrived in this great summer outfit.  To get this pool side party look, it starts with a Tiger Print Romper (or any other pattern that you like).   Next, add a cute belt around your waist.  I have selected a Sparkle Plaque Belt to go with the romper in the link above.   Then, slip on a solid colored cardigan (or, if your romper is a solid color, choose a patterned cardigan that contains your romper's color in it).  If you want a black knitted cardigan like Emma's check out this link: Black Knitted Cardi.   A great pair of shoes that will go with many patterns and colors (including the tiger print romper in the link above) are these Isola 'Adriel' Flat Sandals.   To top a look like this off, add a cute sunhat (this one is like Emma's: Brown Floppy Sunhat) and a little bag to carry your phone and beauty essentials (Across Body Leather Bag).   Hope you like it!

    Newspaper Nails

    What you need:

    • A light colored nail polish
    • Clear, top coat nail polish
    What to do:
    1. Polish nails with your desired light colored polish.   Let nails dry completely.

    The Perfect Beachy Waves

Leighton Meester is one of many celebrities who is rocking beachy waves this season!  You can too!   Below are directions of how to style your hair like this without using a curling iron.  Curling irons and straighteners burn your hair and create breakage so its best to try to use them as little as possible.   It's super easy, and defiantly worth a try!

    The Perfect Beachy Waves:

    1. The night before you want to work these waves, wash your hair (like you would regularly) brushing it afterwards so it is tangle free.
    2. When hair becomes damp (not wet or dry!) add a small amount of wave-enhancer (can be purchased at a drug store or beauty supply store) from your hair roots to hair tips.
    3. Separate hair into about six sections (more sections= tighter, smaller waves, less sections= less, looser waves)
    4. Braid each section of hair (loose braids= softer waves, tight waves= crimped waves).   Sleep with the braids in your hair (or leave them in for ten or more hours).
    5. The next day, if hair is not completely dry (check by sticking your finger into the middle of your braid, if it is ready it will be dry in the center) blow dry your hair until it is.   Remove braids gently and enjoy!

Look of the Day: Feminine Edgy

This Feminine Edgy outfit starts with a girly lace dress.   One of the many reasons I love lace is because you can make it edgy just as easy as you can make it soft and pretty based on accessories you add to it.   Lace also has so many different patterns and colors, so you are sure to have a unique dress (or other lace clothing item).   The accessories in this outfit are a sparkly, cream colored clutch, a pair of black suede platform booties, a pair of vintage pearl flower earrings, and a crystal headband.   The clutch, adds more texture to this outfit.  The light cream color and sparkles also add more personality to this dress.   Clutches are perfect when you only need to hold a few things such as a cell phone, and money; so its always great t0 have a versatile one like this around.  The suede platform booties are what makes this outfit edgy thanks to their dark color and rough material.   If you want to add more edge to an outfit like this, stick to leathers, suede, and any other edgy material you can find and feel that compliments your lace.   If you have a colored lace (meaning anything other then cream or white), I would defiantly go with black suede or leather so it does not detract to much attention from the color of the lace.   The pearl flower earrings add a cute vintage touch to this outfit.   When searching for jewelry to compliment an outfit like this, you need to look at what compliments the dress, not the other accessories.   This is so you can easily find textures and patterns that go together.  For instance, if you just look at the dress in the image above, and then one at a time look at it with each individual accessory you can see that they each go with the dress.   I believe this is much easier then looking at them all together because, for some it is confusing to see many textures and patterns at once.   Last but not least, comes the headband.  Headbands defiantly are not for everyone, but if you like them or are willing to try one out, I suggest either a crystal, pearl, or leather (if there is no other source of leather in your outfit) for a lace dress.   Good luck!
